This test is for individuals aged 18 and over.

This blood test provides an assessment of your liver function and overall liver health. It measures key enzymes and proteins such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), total bilirubin, albumin, and ferritin. These markers help identify liver inflammation, damage, or disease, as well as iron storage issues that can impact liver function. It is particularly useful for those who consume alcohol regularly, take medications that may affect the liver, or want to monitor long-term liver health.

Important Information Before Your Appointment

• You do not need to fast for this test.

• You should stay well hydrated before your appointment.

• You should avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your test, as it can affect liver enzyme levels.

• You should avoid smoking before your test.

• You should continue taking your prescribed medications, but let the phlebotomist know if you are on medicines that may impact the liver.

• You should avoid strenuous exercise before your blood draw.

• You need to arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to relax before your appointment.

• You must be aged 18 or over to book this test.
